      "While visiting the Expomusic in São Paulo, I saw a beautiful double bass at the stand of Thomastik. There being no one around, I approached the instrument and admired the wood, the varnish, the proportions ...
       Would it possibly be a modern Italian? It also had a touch of French, ... those shoulders, the frame of the fitting of the neck. I was dying of curiosity when someone told me the instrument belonged to Luiz Chaves. Eureka!
       I had heard of the double bass before: it had been built here in Brazil by Paulo Gomes. A master piece. Congratulations!!"
